CPA Firm DMJ & Co., PLLC Awarded “Most Money Earned” By a Group and Raises $14,500

GREENSBORO, NC- Despite being the busiest time of year for accountants and frigid Saturday temperatures, DMJ & Co., PLLC (DMJ), a North Carolina CPA firm, found the time to take a big leap for a very special cause. On Saturday, February 29, DMJ participated in the Triad Chill for Special Olympics.  Twenty team members, in honor of the firm’s 20th consecutive year of involvement, took the first leap into the ice-cold 28 degree waters of Wet n’ Wild Emerald Pointe. Special Olympics reports that more than 275 community groups, Triad area law enforcement, and individual polar plungers also took “the leap” this leap year day.

DMJ’s fundraising efforts resulted in more than $14,500 for Special Olympics and the firm was awarded “Most Money Earned” by a group. The firm’s accountants wore t-shirts with slogans such as, “Accountants make life less taxing” and “Crunching numbers is my cardio.”     Overall, the Triad Chill 2020 raised more than $70,000. Caren Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer, and Mike Gillis, Managing Partner, presented Special Olympics with a symbolic check commemorating DMJ’s milestone fundraising total of more than $175,000 since the inaugural Polar Plunge in 2000.

Caren Rodriguez, notes, “Both the Triad Chill and Special Olympics is a mission close to our hearts. Being part of this event is such an integral part of who we are at DMJ. We are so fortunate for our engaged firm members and our DMJ community that have given generously of their time and resources to our efforts. Their support, and the enthusiasm, is a credit to our ongoing commitment and relationships with Special Olympics. “

The spirit of corporate social responsibility is strong at DMJ. The firm raised the money with designated causal days, raffle prizes, and the support of generous community friends and clients. DMJ has been the single longest supporter of the Triad Chill since it was created in 2000. DMJ & Co., PLLC and DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC have plunged for 20 consecutive years, consistently leading the way in fundraising contributions.

DMJ’s 2020 team of polar plungers and toe dippers included DMJ professionals Ashleigh Anderson, Jess Bankhead, David Mize, Robbie Stokely, Kelly O’Brien, Matthew Knott, Kelly Wagner, Andrew Esses, Emily White, Jana Fox, Yvonne Ingold and Beverly Primavera of Greensboro, and Jeffrey Houston and Drew Steel of Durham. Family and friends of DMJ also joined the team for the official plunge!
